Why do we give?

Grace-oriented giving is joyful, free, and sacrificial. We do not give out of guilt but with gratitude and joy for the gift of saving grace we received from God. (2 Corinthians 9:2-8). We are also called to give sacrificially. God does not prescribe a percentage that we should give, but he does judge our gift by whether it is a loving sacrifice on our part. (2 Corinthians 8:1-7, Mark 12:43-44).

What does your giving support?

Giving to the general fund supports the ministries, missions, staff, and operations of First Presbyterian Church, and every gift matters. A healthy church is characterized by giving from across all demographics in the church (young, old, single, married) and by gifts of all sizes.

Giving to the general fund is encouraged, but you can also designate a specific fund or ministry when you give.

Qualified Charitable Donation (QCD) from an IRA

Did you know that you can contribute directly to First Pres from your IRA? If you are 70½ or older, you can have the custodian of your IRA make a non-taxable Qualified Charitable Contribution to First Presybterian Church in a manner that helps satisfy your yearly Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) requirement. Note that this transfer is not tax-deductible but may reduce your overall tax requirement more than a direct contribution by nature of the reduction of your overall gross income. We will send you a written confirmation of your gift once your transaction is complete.
