Baptisms
Baptism is a sacrament representing the work of the Holy Spirit, who was poured out on God’s people to carry out his work of cleansing from sin and empowering for a new life.
At First Presbyterian, baptisms are done during the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m services. Evening baptisms (6 p.m.) are also an option and can be arranged based on the worship schedule. Prior to the baptism, parents will meet with the Associate Pastor of Worship and Community Life, John Franks, to further discuss the implications of baptism and raising a covenant child.
To schedule a baptism, please contact Vonnie Eidson.
Weddings at First Presbyterian
Dear Bride and Groom,
We are delighted you are considering celebrating your wedding at First Presbyterian Church of Augusta.
We believe marriage is a relationship between one man and one woman instituted by God for the mutual happiness of his people and for the glory of his name. As such, it is the duty of Christians to marry only in the Lord, that is, to marry fellow believers. All couples who wish to get married at First Presbyterian Church must complete a wedding questionnaire, meet with two elders for approval, and abide by all wedding policies. All couples must complete the Preparing for Marriage class offered through Insight Biblical Counseling before getting married here. Members have priority in scheduling a date for their wedding.
Our Wedding Packet contains all the information you need to start planning your wedding at First Presbyterian Church. Please review this packet prior to contacting the wedding coordinator, Sandy Lanclos, 706.262.8820.
We look forward to working with you to help make your wedding ceremony one that glorifies God and is characterized by dignity, beauty, reverence and joy.
