The following is a portion of Pastor Robertson’s pastoral prayer at the morning service March 5, 2017. You can watch the service in its entirety here.
Thinking of our country, we ask that you would revive us as a nation, that you would cause the gospel to cover our land as the waters cover the sea.
We pray that you would raise up more gospel-centered churches across our country, especially in cities.
We pray that you would set us free from the sins that blind us as a nation: for racial tension and injustice, for incivility in public speech, for disregard for life – unborn, born, partially born, elderly – disregard for one’s neighbor, and tension in various parts of our society.
Father we ask for healing. We know that that healing cannot come through politicians or laws; it can only come through the gospel of Jesus Christ – able to make the many one new man in Christ.
Use us more powerfully as a church in an urban center to bring justice and peace through the clear declaration of the gospel and the practice of it in practical places of need in this city.
We pray especially for our April 29th CityServe project that we’re taking up with partner churches all across this city. Would it be, Lord, that our light would so shine before men that they would see works that they regard as good too and glorify our father in Heaven.
We pray that you would give us many opportunities to explain that the reason we do this is in response to the gospel of Christ.
We thank you Lord that we have the privilege of making all these prayers in the name of Jesus, who taught us to pray saying:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen
