Advent Sermon Series: Unto Us a Son Is Given

Our Advent sermon series is titled “Unto Us a Son Is Given.” In Jesus, we have been given the greatest gift, and during Advent we will explore the Hope, Peace, Love, and Joy that is ours through the gift of the Son, Jesus Christ.
Love Gift Celebration
December 4 | 6 p.m.
Sanctuary, Worship Green
Our annual Love Gift Celebration is an opportunity to learn about specific ways our church has extended the love of Christ to others through acts of mercy and to collect an offering for the Mercy Fund. After a short presentation, we will move outside for appetizers and fellowship.
The children’s program for Pre-K through fifth grade begins at 5:45 p.m. in St. Andrew’s Hall. This year’s children’s theme is Love, Give, Remember. We will have a short a program in St. Andrew’s Hall and then move to the children’s classrooms for a pizza dinner and activities. Children may wear pajamas or Christmas attire. The event is free, but registration for children is required.
Evensong Service of Lessons and Carols
December 11 | 4:30 & 6:30 p.m.
The Evensong services will feature music performed by the Chancel, Youth, and Canterbury Choirs with a full orchestra. This is a great opportunity to invite others to join you for a special evening of worship. Nurseries will open at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. for ages three and younger.
Songs of Advent with Telfair Collective
December 18 | 6 p.m.
This special Christmas service will incorporate music from the Telfair Collective, traditional carols, a devotion, and communion. The Telfair Collective is a musical group made up of First Pres members and Augusta-based musicians performing original advent songs. Its songwriters include Tori Aycock, Jami Harris, Morgan Lueck, and Susanna and Kirk Sauers. These songs are available wherever you listen to music. Children in Pre-K and older will remain in the services to worship with their parents.
Christmas Eve Services
December 24 | 3 & 5 p.m.
Our Christmas Eve Candlelight Services will include traditional Christmas carols, special music, and a message from Pastor Hearon. Nurseries will open at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. for children age 3 and younger. Children in Pre-K and older will remain in the services to worship with their parents.
Christmas Day Family Service
December 25 | 10 a.m.
Our Christmas Day service will be a family-friendly celebration of Jesus’ birth. Come as you are for a time of worship and a short homily as we honor our King. All children will remain in the service.
