What to expect at first pres

Sunday Worship

Corporate worship is central to First Presbyterian Church, and we are committed to gathering for worship both morning and evening. The style of our morning services is more formal and liturgical, while our evening service is more casual and contemporary. We strive to be a friendly and inviting community for anyone.

All services are livestreamed, and you can access the current bulletin to follow along.

Morning Worship Locations (8:30 & 11 a.m.)

  • Sanctuary

  • St. Andrew’s Hall
    • At 8:30, this space has in-person music and pastor-led liturgy which replicate the flow of the service in the sanctuary, and the sermon is simulcast. At 11, the entire service is simulcast.
  • Eve Room
    • This is a smaller worship space, and the service is simulcast.
  • Room 114
    • This space is designed as a “family room” for those who need a space to worship with restless children or for those who need a “cry room” during worship.

Evening Worship Location (6 p.m.)

  • Sanctuary

Sunday Morning Communities & Sunday School

Adult Sunday Morning Communities begin at 9:45 with fellowship and are a great way to connect with others at First Pres. We offer classes for all ages. Youth meet in The Depot and children meet in the Ebenezer Building for Sunday School. Learn about our adult groups here.

Parking/Accessibility

Guest and handicap parking is available in the lot on the corner of Telfair and 6th Streets. There are two accesible entrances from this lot, one with a ramp and the other with an automatic door.  There is additional parking on Telfair Street, in several other lots across the street from the church, and in the James Brown Arena lot which is just behind the church. We also have wheelchair accessible pews in the sanctuary.

What to Wear

There is no dress code at First Pres. Our morning service tends to be more business casual, with some people wearing suits. The evening service tends to be more casual. Although our morning and evening services reflect different styles, you will be welcome no matter what you wear.

Nursery, Children’s Programs, & Children’s Check-in

Nursery is available for children two years old and younger. Children’s programs are available for children three years old through fifth grade during Sunday School and worship, based on the child’s age. We are committed to the safety of the children placed in our care during church events, and we require parents of newborn through fifth graders to check in their children before going to the nursery or classroom. Check-in kiosks are available in the Children’s Check-in Lobby, and staff are available to help. If you are visiting for the first time, please arrive 10 minutes early to check in your children.

Hand in Hand/Disability Ministry

The Hand in Hand ministry serves families touched by disability to facilitate their participation in worship and other ministries of the church. Learn more here, and please contact us to let us know how we can assist you.
