Baptisms & Weddings

Baptisms

Baptism is a sacrament representing the work of the Holy Spirit, who was poured out on God’s people to carry out his work of cleansing from sin and empowering for a new life.

At First Presbyterian, baptisms are done during the 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m., and 6:30 p.m. services on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Prior to the baptism, parents will meet with the Associate Pastor of Family Nurture, John Franks, to further discuss the implications of baptism and raising a covenant child.

To schedule a baptism, please contact Merrie Barthel, 706.262.8849.

Weddings at First Presbyterian

Dear Bride and Groom,
Congratulations and best wishes on your engagement! We are happy for you and glad that you are interested in having your wedding at First Presbyterian Church.

Active First Presbyterian members, children and grandchildren of active members, and leaders involved in ministry will be given priority in reserving dates for weddings. Non-members may also have their weddings at First Pres but the planning time for non-member weddings is limited to six months prior to the wedding. First Presbyterian also requires that couples who get married at our church complete the Preparing for Marriage class offered through Hindsight Biblical Counseling.

This web area is designed to help you get the information you need to get started with your wedding plans. Please read "First Steps" and “Weddings at FPC Augusta" prior to contacting the church office, 706.262.8900.

We look forward to working with you to help make your wedding ceremony one that glorifies God and is characterized by dignity, beauty, reverence and joy.
